Following the earthquake disaster in Fukushima, festival director Michael Haefliger, concert organiser Masahide Kajimoto, star architect Arata Isozaki and artist Sir Anish Kapoor wanted to bring hope to the people there. «Music is hope,» they said – and created the world’s first inflatable concert hall: the Ark Nova. In 2013, the Ark Nova opened its doors in Japan and gave the tsunami victims a sense of optimism and a glimpse of a brighter future.
In summer 2025 Lucerne Festival brings Ark Nova to Lucerne for the first and only time – with a varied musical programme for everyone. Visitors can look forward to numerous acts from the fields of classical, pop, folk, jazz and world music that set their own unique accents and thus complement the traditional classical programme of the Lucerne Festival, which takes place in parallel until 14 September on the other side of the lake at the KKL Lucerne.
